Ringworm Treatment FAQ :
I don’t wanna try anything other than a natural remedy, maybe something organic…any advice??
I know I could simply take them to a veterinarian but I don’t know exactly what they will be using on them, I would prefer something all natural.

I don’t know of anything natural but any over the counter athletes foot creme usually does the trick.
i know you dont want to take it to the vet but thats whats going to officially cure it all the way, in the long run thats whats best for your cats.
Monistat cream. Also, access to some sunshine like a sunny window. Sunshine helps kill the spores. Make sure the cats have ringworm and not an allergic reaction to fleas. Ringworm usually goes away on its own in 3 months, but athlete’s foot cream or monistat makes it less likely to spread and makes it less contagious. When the skin flakes, wear a glove and gently rub off the loose dander and dispose of the dander as it is contaminated with ringworm spores. Tea tree oil is a natural remedy, but tea tree oil is poisonous to cats so DON’T use it on cats. You will need to wash yourself and your hair with selsun blue or dandruff shampoo with the exact same ingredient as selsun blue to kill any spores you might get from the cats. I did this and did not catch ringworm from my cat who probably got it because she was a stray and most likely was stressed and exposed to dirty conditions outdoors. But some people are more likely to get it than others.
If you use the athlete’s foot cream, you must buy the kind with clotrimazole cream to be effective. You must use the cream, not the powder and rub the cream in really good on the balding areas twice a day.
My vet just prescribed an antifungal cream and not a bunch of dips and stuff. However, my cat only had one spot of ringworm and it wasn’t all over her body. If the cats have lots of spots, they need to take some pills prescribed by the vet.
Anything you can’t wash with bleach water, you can set out in the sunshine to kill the spores if you have sunny weather. Also, add Borax to your laundry just in case. And vacuum everyday. Change the vacuum bag every other day if you want to be cautious; it may help.
Ringworm spores can be found all over the place. It becomes contagious when there is a high concentration of spores so cleaning is important. Also, stress can make animals more susceptible. Long-haired cats may have difficulty with it because their hair doesn’t shed off so fast and it holds onto dirt longer. Also, make sure you don’t use wire type grooming brushes as those can make little cuts in the skin and make cats more susceptible to the fungus.
Cats with ringworm should always be evaluated for underlying disease(s) that may have made them more at risk for this fungal infection.
Also, Ringworm is contagious and highly infectious. It can be passed from cat to cat, dog to cat, cat to dog, cat to human, human to cat etc.
Once your cat has been diagnosed with ringworm you will have to treat both the cat & the environment. If you live in a multiple cat household, all cats in your home will need to be treated. Carefully follow the instructions from your veterinarian when treating your cat. In healthy cats, ringworm will often resolve itself in 2 – 4 months. However, it is recommended you treat your cat for ringworm to speed up the process & prevent infection of humans & other pets.
DO consult a Vet.
The vet recommended 1 part bleach to 10 parts water. As far as I know there are no natural and/or organic remedies for that.Just mix that in a spray bottle and spray directly onto the affected area. I’ve had a cat as well as a guinea pig get ringworm and it’s tough to get rid of. Make sure you wear gloves and wash your hands after contact to prevent spreading. It may also be a good idea to invest in e-collars to keep the cats from accidentally ingesting the bleach mixture if you can’t constantly keep an eye on them.
