My vet also gave us a shampoo (Malaseb) and a topical cream treatment to use along with the oral treatment.
Has program (lufenuron) worked for getting rid of ringworm in your experience?

no i do not have experience with that but if your vet gave you an instruction sheet then you should follow that.
if not just call the vet secertary and ask her about it and she should be able to tell you if you have a good vet.

my vet gave me oral medications and told my to use Gold bond medicated oinment on my dog who had ring worm and in one week it was all cleared up. the thing you need to becareful of though is that ringworm is very contagious for humans as well. clean everything that you and your cat share. if your vet persibed medicated and other RX’s then i’m sure those will work great.

I’m not sure about lufenuron but I can make some suggestions about how to keep it from spreading to you. I got ringworm from my sister and she got it from school. It is very catchy and even my other sister has it now. You have to make sure that you clean yours and your cats bedding often. Also other places where your cat often sits/lays etc. Make sure not to touch your cats ringworm and if you do wash your hands immediately. Use a cotton swab to put your cats treatment on and where gloves when you give her the bath.
Also, I have heard that the ringworm needs to be treated for at least two weeks after it has “cleared up”

GOOD LUCK!!

When we brought in two strays, they were covered in ring worms. We found out when we had to take my little sister to the doctor because she was infected with so many. The vet merely gave us some oral medications for the kittens and we slipped it in wet food, cleared it right up.

But, like everyone else is saying, while you’re cat is being treated, either don’t touch it or wash your hands immediatly after. =D

Good luck!

My cat also had ringworm but the vet gave us Griseofulvin (sp) along with pledgets…I believe they may have been Malaseb. I applied both of those to him twice a day and bathed him twice a week to keep the spores from spreading. I also vacuumed the floor everyday and disinfected the house with Lysol every day. I also washed every single blanket that we had came into contact with and washed our bedsheets. I washed my hands after dealing with his litter box (as everyone should) and we washed our hands or used Germ-X after we handled the cat. We did this for up to two-three weeks after it appeared to be gone.

I would just follow what the vet prescribed. I say it will be fine. I also got ringworm from the cat (22 spots) and used cream that had Turbinafine in it. It took a while to get rid of it, but it just takes time and patience. It will get better, I promise. Good luck!
