You’ve read of athlete’s foot and jock itch? Same thing, ringworm.
Since none of you want to spend big bucks at a dermatologist, buy a good athlete’s foot over-the-counter medication, like Desentex cream. A store brand may do just as well but less expensive — check ingredients and percentages before you buy.
You can use this anywhere except on/near eyes. And it does work. Been there.
don’t let your animals scratch you and use antifungal stuff takes 4 to 6 weeks,so you must live in a southern region a little chumb
Athlete’s foot med. Doesn’t matter what brand. The time it takes to get rid of it depends on how bad it is.
See a doc immediately, this is bacterial and must be treated. it can spread to nails, sclap, feet. Hurry to treat, very contagious.
spachick1970, reread your cosmetology book please. Ringworm is NOT bacterial, it is fungal. Antifungal remedies will work on it.
All the answers given are great and helpful, but don’t forget to clean all your linen and clothes. Creams and lotions will help, but only a little if you forget to wash items that can hold the ringworm and reinfect you once they have started to do the job.
Either 2%miconazole nitrate cream (Micatin) or 1% clotrimazole cream (Lotrimin), both of which were previously prescription only, but now available over the counter, will work fine, used twice a day on the affected area. Iodine ointment is a very old fashioned treatment that works, but not as fast as those just mentioned. Of course you can get a prescription for Lamisol tablets by mouth, especially if you have it bad. This is the most modern cure.
