Same thing with my Maltese! All the pics I've seen of ringworm are like big red circles with bald patches, but he doesn't have that. He's got big circular scabs just like your yorkie! I took him to the vet for it a week ago and they pulled some hairs from one of the areas to do tests on, and I called yesterday to see if the results were in, but they said someone would call in a couple of days with results. If you find out please let me know, and I'll let you know when my vet calls back!

About three weeks ago I gave my Great Pyrenees a bath. Because his fur is long, I had not noticed anything unusual. While he was wet I found a huge ringworm on his back. Ringworm is circular with a red ridge around the outside. The vet gave me oral tablets for him to take and told me to get Tinactin to spray on his back. It cleared right up. Good luck to you.

No. But when I was a child there was a litter of kittens born in our neighborhood with ringwork. It left circular bald patches on the kitten. It didn't look scabby, but I guess it did. Ringworm is highly contagious to people. It will look like red, round ring and it will cause your hair to fall out if it gets on your head. If you have been touching this dog and not washing your hand and have not picked it up yourself, you are probably safe. It could be an allergic reaction to fleas. Dogs with allergies will chew until they get scabs. Hopefully you vet will find that this is easy to treat.
